City Hire sought to provide workplace EV charging facilities at their Birmingham location to support their sustainability goals and accommodate the increasing number of electric vehicles used by staff and clients.
A key challenge was selecting the most suitable parking spaces for the EV charging point installation, ensuring accessibility and convenience while integrating with the site’s operations.
Our Challenges
One of the primary challenges we faced was determining the best cable routing to minimise exposed cabling, ensuring both safety and a clean installation at the Birmingham site.
Solutions Implemented
We conducted a thorough site assessment to address City Hire’s challenge of selecting suitable parking locations for the charge points. We recommended installing them in the parking spaces closest to the building. This ensured easy access and seamless integration with the site’s infrastructure.
For the cable routing challenge, we opted for the shortest possible paths and ran cables internally wherever feasible. This approach reduced the amount of exposed cabling and improved the electric vehicle charger installation's overall safety and visual appeal.
